Federal Minister, Mr. Khalid Maqbool Siddique, for Information Technology said that the Ministry of Information Technology had created around nine thousand jobs and had also generated revenue which amounted to almost 500 million rupees through five start ups in the National Incubation Centers (NIC) in the last year.
According to the data which was provided by the MoIT, for the purpose of mainstreaming youth by offering them a digital entrepreneurial ecosystem, it has taken several initiatives for mobilizing the youth and creating employment opportunities for the IT enthusiasts as Pakistan was producing 25,000 IT graduates every year.
In the last year, the ministry has set up start ups in 5 National Incubation Center’s (NICs) that have raised a collective investment commitment of 1.3 Billion rupees from the local as well as international companies in the private sector.
With the help of these start ups, over nine thousand job opportunities have been created for the youth as well as skilled manpower that is related to the industry of information technology.
Besides, under the “DigiSkills” program, during the last year, a total of 312,000 trainings were provided to young freelancing entrepreneurs in the country to help them earn reasonable livelihood as freelancers.
According to the data, a rough amount of 14 million dollars has been raised through this intervention as well as support for the ecosystem of freelance.
For initiatives in future, Ministry of IT has decided to launch a web portal which shall allow the young Information Technology experts for sharing their creative ideas regarding to Information Technology.
The announcement was made by Khalid Maqbool Siddique, the Federal minister for Information Technology earlier while he was addressing the media about the one year performance of the ministry.
