Apple to face impacts of 15% tariffs being imposed in September

Immediately after midnight on Sunday, the newest tariff of 15% of Chinese goods will be put in place. The additional tariff will place levies on numerous household and technology products, the Apple products being one of them.

Imposed by the U.S. President Donald Trump as a part of the mounting trade war between China and the United States, the tariffs, on Friday, were incorporated into the Federal Register.

The China-based company Foxconn is in charge of assembling Apple products in China. The firm then has them delivered to users globally. The tariffs arriving Sunday will impact numerous Apple products for instance HomePod, IMac computers, Apple Watch, Airpods. The Apple iPhone became lucky here, but it is likely that it, too, will be hit by tariffs which’ll be imposed on the 15th of December.

Apple is among the many electronics firms which will be adversely affected by the tariffs. Multiple technologies will befall the 15%tariff on Sunday; speakers, flash drives, cameras, to name a few. It is expected that thanks to these tariffs, Apple’s rival Samsung will find itself at an advantage.

For more than a year now, Apple has been urging President Donald Trump to avoid tariffs. While attending a recent dinner with the president, Tim Cook, Apple Chief Executive Officer stated his worries that Apple’s chief rival Samsung Electronics Co. will be at an advantage since none of its products would be subject to the tariffs.

Only a few days following the dinner, Donald Trump publicized how tariffs on $300 billion worth of imports from China would be raised to 15% (they were previously 10%). This, he said, is set to take effect in two segments. The first batch is taking place on the 1st of September.

Apple has yet to state if it intends to raise the prices of its goods.
